Do you need a 'Reality Check'? Property prices rationalise.

According to Britain’s largest property portal Rightmove.co.uk sellers need a ‘reality check’ when selling their according to a story published by Reuters. In the UK the unsold property stock has reached record proportions, currently it is seeing 35,000 per week come online, rightmove have about 90% of the property listed on the market on their site so it’s an even better indicator than our own versions which would be daft.ie and myhome.ie.

They have said that people need to embrace ‘smart pricing’, here we have taken to calling this ‘priced to sell’ or ‘price adjustment’ but in the end of the day the message is clear, drop your prices if you want to sell. The interesting aspect of the rightmove analysis is that many of the people advertising property are trading up and although they want to buy at a bargain they want to sell for the highest price attainable, its an interesting juxtaposition.

Hillary takes New Hampshire

Its clear that I am a big fan of Barack Obama, I nearly want to start a rumour that he’s Irish and his name is O’Bama and then everybody else here would like him too…

Anyways, Hillary took New Hampshire, Pollsters and pundits got it really wrong on this one! Mind you it was a 39 to 36% lead and not nearly as impressive as Obama’s Iowa performance but it has made me think about something.

Bill Clinton was my favourite president (Other than George Washington) and Hillary got eight years of indirect experience during that time, she’s a very bright and well versed lady and she certainly knows the pains of the Oval Office, more importantly you get Hillary you get Bill, its one of the only ways to bring him back into the domain of decision making because he cannot serve as president again. Behind every great man is a woman, and sometimes behind every great woman there is a man, isn’t the 21st century great that way!

Obama wins Iowa caucus.

I take an active interest in American politics, and their economy, because so much of what happens there affects us and because I’m half American too. Born in Los Angeles and lived here and there including three years in Chicago which is where I first heard of Barack Obama, an inspirational and highly intelligent politician.

It is on the basis that several months ago I made the first political donation of my life, and it was to his campaign. Naturally I was absolutely delighted to see him win the Iowa caucus. The Iowa caucus is considered to be an early indicator of who will gain the nomination of their political party. Sometimes the losers win out, Bill Clinton (my favourite president since George Washington) only got 2% in the Iowa caucus in 1992.

However, only once since 1974 has the winner of the Iowa caucus actually won the election and that was George Bush, although he didn’t really win the election so I don’t know if it counts or not. Hopefully the next president won’t be a half-witted hillbilly …
