The Greeks have spent an extraordinary amount of time in their history in default. The nation has long preferred profligacy over austerity and the recent turmoil there echo’s the basic Greek premise: ‘Everybody else pay except for me’. Unfortunately their demonstrations have now been part of the machine that has claimed the lives of three innocent people, and while the vast majority of the protesters would not support this explicitly, the do so implicitly when they don’t stop the actions of the marginal groups. The Germans have a valid point in wanting to kick Greece out of the Euro, it would perhaps be best for all parties concerned.
