Today I will tweet something that (if you clicked on a link that brought you here) has been on my mind for a while, namely – will people use twitter to pursue a value for money offering? We decided to use a ‘fire-sale price test’ i.e.: prices so good that if you don’t go for it you are not saying ‘no’ because you don’t ever want it, but because you are truly not in the market for it.
[If you arrived at this blog post then chances are that you at least might be interested, although using twitter to find financial services is a little outside of the box (even for me!)]
Anyway, what you have to do is RT the message that brought you here then email me with the subject line ‘twitter’, and in return I’ll do any type of insurance policy you might need on a zero commissions basis – that means you can get cheap car/house/life/mortgage protection/income protection/accident-sickness-unemployment/pension/travel insurance/savings policies on an ‘under the counter price’. Basically I’ll remove any income that we might make but in the process the money we won’t make (which is basically passed to the person who gets cheaper insurance) will pay for this marketing experiment, ironically, if we make nothing it means the experiment worked!
Just so you have an idea of what it might look like: if you are paying €50 a month on mortgage protection, with my deal you’ll pay €5 a month instead for the first year, that would be a 90% discount on your mortgage protection!
Different products have different margins but we’ll let ya know the prices before you commit to anything (car and house tend to be the lowest margin insurances). This is a one off thing, it ends at the end of August 2009. Doing zero commissions usually involves an annual premium then a refund of it – so you pay for it up front, we get commission then send it back to you – just so there are no surprises if you take this up.
So beat the recession for a change! [this offering is restricted to Rep. of Ireland]
I’ve been following and enjoying your blog for several months now and certainly wish I could take advantage of your generous offer. Good luck with the marketing experiments and thanks for your entertaining and educational posts.
Hi Karl,
wanted to thank you for this option and also your information on repossession of homes, also your input on PrimeTime. Would you consider setting up a lobby group for normal joe soaps who are in difficulty and have no voice, as of yet. And if anyone else would be interested please leave a comment too or email me on hilkell@hotmail.com
There is so much injustice and anger but as of yet no effective organised means of communicating to the government how the people of ireland actually feel. We need to act fast, together and communicate our needs to a government supposed to be supporting those needs,
Sincerely
Hilary
